How to reach Cracow by air

Arrival airport: John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice (KRK) located at Balice, approximately 11 km west of Cracow city centre (Official website: www.krakowairport.pl).  

Flight connections: 

Kraków is well connected by direct or connecting trains with several European cities including: 

  • Direct flights: Cracow is well connected with many European cities such as Vienna, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Zurich, Tel Aviv, and Dubai.
  • Long-haul flights: For participants traveling from outside Europe (e.g., Asia, North or South America), connecting flights are usually required via major European hubs such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, London, or Warsaw.
  • From the USA: Direct flights are available from Chicago (ORD) and New York -Newark (EWR). Other US airports may require a connection in Europe or Warsaw.

From the airport to the city centre:

  • Train: The local railway (Koleje Małopolskie) connects the airport with Kraków Główny (Main Railway Station) in  about 20 minutes (Kraków Airport - Train). 
  • Bus: Several bus lines (209, 300, night bus 902) connect the airport with the city centre and other districts (Kraków Airport - Public buses). 
  • Taxi / Ride services: Available directly outside the terminal; convenient for late-night arrivals or participants with heavy luggage (Kraków Airport - Kraków Airport Taxi service). 

How to reach Cracow by train

Main Railway Station (Kraków Dworzec Główny - Passenger Area) is located in the city centre, within walking distance of the Old Town
 
Krakow is connected to most major Polish cities by high-speed rail. Travel to Cracow takes: approx. 2 hours by high-speed Pendolino (EIP) trains from Warsaw, approx. 5.5–6 hours from Gdańsk / Gdynia, approx. 3.5 hours from Wroclaw. 
Kraków is well connected by direct or connecting trains with several European cities including: 

  • Prague (Czech Republic) – around 7 h 
  • Vienna (Austria) – around 7 h  
  • Berlin (Germany) – around 9–10 h  
  • Budapest (Hungary) – around 9 h

How to reach Cracow by car

Krakow has good road connections and is easily accessible from the A4 motorway (connecting Krakow with Wrocław and the German border in the west and Ukraine in the east), the S7 expressway (connecting Krakow with Warsaw), and national roads 7, 44, 75, 79 and 94.
