60th anniversary of the GFR
Tribute to the Men and Women Who Supported the GFR Before Leaving the University
As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the GFR, we honor the remarkable individuals who have shaped its history and helped establish its identity as a vibrant, inclusive community for both seasoned researchers and young scientists. Although they have retired from their academic roles and embarked on new chapters, their contributions continue to resonate and enrich our society. Recognizing everyone who has contributed to our GFR Society is a great challenge, so we focus on those who retired in the past decade and proudly include their names in this book of abstracts. We begin with our esteemed presidents. Prof. Patrice Flaud guided the group through a period of renewal, while Prof. Philippe Cassagnau, from Lyon, carried this vision forward with distinction. From the same region, Prof. Christian Carrot served as treasurer, ensuring financial stability. From the French Riviera, we salute Prof. Jean-François Agassant and Dr. Bruno Vergnes, who transformed the review Rhéologie into its modern form. In Le Mans, Prof. Jean-François Tassin amplified the voice of French rheologists within the ESR as GFR’s representative and secretary. Lastly, we honor our “ladies of the heart.” Prof. Dominique Dupuis, from the East, was a steadfast supporter of the GFR, offering invaluable contributions during key transitions. Dr. Guylaine Ducouret, as GFR secretary, was a driving force behind the success of the AERC 2015 organizing team and contributed significantly to the GFR’s vibrancy. Finally, we must honor our dear colleague, Lionel Choplin from Nancy, who passed away in 2021. His dedication was instrumental in elevating the prominence of rheology, both in France and internationally. To each of these exceptional individuals, we extend our deepest gratitude for their dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to the GFR. Your efforts have shaped the group into what it is today.
